Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Bagdogra and Drive to Gangtok

Upon your arrival at Bagdogra, you'll be greeted by our representative and transported to Gangtok. Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, boasts a rich history. It started as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s and later served as the capital of an independent monarchy before becoming a part of India in 1975. Today, Gangtok continues to be a hub of Tibetan Buddhist culture and a convenient starting point for hikers arranging permits and transportation for treks in the Sikkim Himalayas. Upon arrival, you'll check into your hotel for an overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2

Sightseeing for Gangtok

Following breakfast, embark on a morning excursion to the stunning Tshangu Lake, situated at an elevation of 12,400 feet (3780 meters), approximately 43 kilometers away from Gangtok, taking around 3 hours one way. This picturesque lake, with an average depth of 50 feet, harmoniously blends its cool waters with the breathtaking surrounding scenery. Afterward, continue your journey to the sacred Baba Mandir, which is perched at an even higher altitude of 13,100 feet (3994 meters) and lies about 16 kilometers away from Tshangu Lake, typically requiring an hour for the one-way journey. The day's adventures culminate as you return to Gangtok for an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 3

Drive from Gangtok to Lachung

After breakfast, commence your journey with a drive to Lachung. Along the route, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Tashi viewpoint and admire the captivating Seven Sister's waterfall, provided that the vehicle follows the standard route. Following these scenic stops, your drive will continue towards Lachung. Upon arrival, you'll check in at your hotel for an overnight stay in Lachung. 

Day 4

Trip to Yumthang Valley

Following an early breakfast, embark on a half-day excursion to the enchanting Yumthang Valley. En route, you'll have the opportunity to visit the rejuvenating Hot Spring and the picturesque Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary. Yumthang Valley, nestled at an altitude of 12,000 feet, is approximately 135 kilometers from Gangtok. The scenery here often draws comparisons to the natural beauty of Switzerland, with its breathtaking landscapes. In April and May, the valley blooms with vibrant flowers and orchids, while from November to the end of March, it's typically adorned with pristine snow. After exploring Yumthang, return to Lachung for lunch, followed by visits to the serene Lachung Monastery and the Government. The evening is yours to unwind, and you'll spend the night at your hotel.

Day 5

Drive from Lachung to Gangtok

Post breakfast, embark on a scenic drive back to Gangtok, covering approximately 124 kilometers and spanning about 6 hours. Upon reaching Gangtok, the remainder of the day is at your leisure, allowing you to relax and enjoy the amenities of your hotel. You'll spend the night comfortably at your hotel in Gangtok.

Day 6

Drive from Gangtok to Darjeeling

After a delightful morning breakfast, embark on a half-day sightseeing tour that takes you to the captivating Jhakri Water Falls, the sacred Do-rul Chhorten, and the Research Institute of Tibetology (please note its Sunday closure). You'll also explore the Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (closed on Sundays) and immerse in the vibrant Flower Show. In the afternoon, your journey continues towards the picturesque Darjeeling, where you'll check into your hotel and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay amidst Darjeeling's serene beauty.

Day 7

Sightseeing of Darjeeling

Begin your day with an early morning excursion to Tiger Hills (8482 Ft / 2586 Mts at around 4 AM) to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the majestic Kanchenjunga Peak, weather permitting. On your way back, make a stop to visit the serene Ghoom Monastery and the captivating Batasia Loop. Following a hearty breakfast, embark on a half-day sightseeing tour that includes visits to the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (please note that it's closed on Thursdays). You'll also enjoy the Darjeeling Ropeway Ride, explore Tenzing and Gombu Rock, visit the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center (closed on Sundays), and take in panoramic views of the sprawling Tea Estate. Your day concludes as you return to your hotel in Darjeeling for a comfortable overnight stay. 

Day 8

Drive back from Darjeeling to Bagdogra

Following your breakfast at the hotel, it's time for your departure. You'll be smoothly transferred to Bagdogra airport, where you can catch your return flight back home, concluding your memorable journey through this captivating region.
